This blog is dedicated to the support, documentation and exploration of a 2nd year Undergraduate Studio at Pratt Institute School of Architecture. The studio is led by Enrique Limon with TA's Shawn Sims and Leslie Nardini.
The studio is investigating swarms through a variety of species, their behavioral patterns, movement and part to whole. By pin pointing the basic underlying patterns of a particular species a formulaic equation can be established. This equation of bottom up intelligence will be investigated in terms of its potential application to design. The studio will focus on applications relating to performative skins, structural components and movement at the architectural scale.
Studio participants are Dominick Casale, Benjamin Ferraioli, Jae Kim, Hoyeon Kim, Henry Kwok, Sang Lee, Keith Lindberg, Ben Poulin, and Melanie Tate.
